Down on the farm

We are a crazy family of 6.. not including the animals!
I am going to introduce us all.. or try to!
We have a small holding of 12 acres in Maidstone, Kent. A far cry from where we use to be in a little town called Westkingsdown only 40 minutes or so from where we live now.
Dad use to work in London but has always fancied the 'country life'. Mum and Dad use to be florists (which makes sense as its a very outdoorsy job, yes that is a word in my vocabulary!) and before that Dad was a firefighter before he injured himself cutting someone from a car :(
We now have many chickens, too many to count, a dog, currently some baby chicks hatching in our kitchen and we did have some piggies.. fair to say they are now at another use of ours. (warning here for vegetarians and vegans!)
We make our own sausages and bacon and Dad butchers the pigs for our own use.
We are currently seeking planning permission to set up our own little kitchen for mum to make jams and chutneys with our own grown fruit and vegetables and me to set up my own baking business and for dad to butcher his meat and make his charcuterie and sausages etc.
Then there is my older sister Victoria, she currently works on a farm in a school in kent and she works with all sorts of animals, although she lives near us we dont see her as much as we would like.
Then there is me, im Emily i turn 20 this year i currently have a casual job in a cafe while i try to sort out plans for my business, i love baking. There was a time when i wanted to be  a psychologist, but more than anything that was to please my dad, so i turned to what i really want to do and here i am starting to set up my business!
Then we have Katherine, she is in secondary school and shes the bright one. we thing she will be the one to pursue a career in the arts, either through drama or music. She isn't afraid to get stuck in with the animals though!
Last but not least we have little Isabelle, she is currently in her first year of primary school and she bloomin' loves it! She was a surprise, not least for us but mum and dad too! We could not be without her, our little ray of sunshine!
I will introduce the last member of the family who lives with us.. Our scatty dog Benson, he is 12 this year, he is a weimerana and he is crazy and soppy. ( When he was a puppy he ran into the  back door, dented it and carried on running!) He may be getting old but he is still our puppy dog!

So for now that is it for now, my crazy family thrown in at the deep in in 2012 to a smallholding!
Speak soon Chickies! x
